Meghan Markle’s Sister Samantha Has No Sympathy for Her: She ‘Knew Exactly What She Was Doing’
She’s not mincing words. Duchess Meghan Markle‘s sister, Samantha Markle, appeared on Inside Edition on Thursday, October 24, after watching the documentary Harry and Meghan: An African Journey, in which Duchess Meghan, 38, and Prince Harry talked about their struggles under the scrutiny of the British media. And she didn’t appear to have any sympathy for her royal family member.
“I think it is really ludicrous that someone who is escorted around the world by millions of dollars worth of security on private jets as a millionaire could ever complain about anything,” Samantha said after the Duchess revealed on the documentary that her friends warned her not to marry the Prince. “She knew exactly what she was doing, so, hey you got what you wanted.”
The Duchess of Sussex told ITV News at Ten anchor Tom Bradby of her struggles with the scrutiny on the special, “Not many people will have asked if I’m OK. But it’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.”
“Look, any woman, especially when they’re pregnant, you’re really vulnerable,” the Suits alum added. “And so that was made really challenging, and then, when you have a newborn, you know?” But Samantha apparently didn’t buy it.
“For her to have the audacity to say something like, ‘It is nice to know if someone wants to know if I am OK.’ I thought, ‘Wow, did you ever ask dad if he was OK during two heart attacks?’” Samantha said. (She was referring to the health issues their father, Thomas Markle, suffered from just days before Duchess Meghan’s wedding.)
Diane McInerney also asked Samantha on Inside Edition, “Some people say, ‘why are you being so mean to her?'” The royal’s sister replied, “Telling the truth is not being mean.”
Duchess Meghan and Samantha have had a strained relationship for a while, so it shouldn’t come as a total shock that Samantha doesn’t feel sorry for her sister. But we aren’t really sure we needed her to chime in on this one. It doesn’t seem like the two talk, and frankly, it’s unlucky that she really knows what Duchess Meghan expected when she married into the royal family.
