Mama June Drives a Go Kart on a Date Even Though She’s Legally Blind!
She isn’t wasting any time finding herself a man post-op!
Mama June was set up on a blind date — literally — during this week’s episode of her new WEtv series Mama June: From Not to Hot, and she got into a bit of trouble after she decided to take her 17-year-old daughter Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon’s dating advice. While on a date with a new guy, she decided to drive a go kart without telling him that she’s legally blind!
After undergoing weight loss surgery — in order to get a smoking hot revenge body so that she could show up with a date to her ex Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson’s wedding — Mama June felt like she got her sexy back. After losing about 60 pounds in about 30 days on a strict liquid diet, her niece Amber and Pumpkin decided it was time for her to get back out there in the dating world.
They created a profile for her on RedneckandSingle.com and found her a nice guy to go on a date with. But her teenage daughter gave her some advice before the date and told her to just go with it, have fun, and follow her guy’s lead while on the date.
“It’s bad when your 17-year-old daughter gives you pretty damn good advice, so I’m going to take her advice and see how this works,” the 37-year-old wrote on Twitter. “He is a lumberjack kind of man, we’re going to give it a chance [and] I’m going to take Pumpkin’s advice and have a good time maybe.”

But Pumpkin probably didn’t mean that her mom should drive a go-kart even though she’s legally blind! She drove her mom to meet John, who picked out a Nascar-themed date at a local go-kart raceway. Even though Mama June is totally blind in her right eye and legally blind in her left eye — due to cataracts that she was born with — she still decided to go go-kart racing with him because he was “cute” and because she wanted to take Pumpkin’s advice. After crashing into the bumpers multiple times, she finally came clean and John was not amused.
