Mackenzie Standifer Accuses Maci Bookout of “Exploiting” Ryan Edwards in Scathing Open Letter
Looks like this is drama that isn’t going to be resolved anytime soon.
On Monday, July 3, Maci Bookout and Mackenzie Standifer were brought together for the Teen Mom OG reunion with Dr. Drew Pinsky — and things got predictably tense when the new Mrs. Ryan Edwards confronts the mother-of-three with an “open letter” about Ryan’s addiction, and accused her of “exploiting” Ryan and his struggle with substance abuse for the sake of ratings.

“Maci, you told me to my face, merely days after I had informed you about Ryan seeking help, that you had known about his problem since November,” she read on the reunion special. “That was 186 days ago; 400,464 hours and 267,840 minutes that he could’ve died, and still, you said nothing… You let everyone know that you feared for his life, while concurrently exploiting Ryan and his addiction on the show.”
After revealing that Ryan is doing better and things are “looking up” for the father-of-one, Mackenzie went on to claim that she only knew about Ryan’s struggles 48 hours prior to him beginning treatment about a month ago.
“You preach about hating complacency and enabling, but because you turned your head to the problem, that makes you the enabler, not everyone else that it’s blamed on,” she read. “Instead of solving the problem, or making an effort to solve it, you decided to humiliate Ryan, humiliate myself and his entire family, but more importantly, you’ve humiliated our children for years to come.”

She concluded her letter, “Helping Ryan doesn’t mean talking about all of his problems on national television. It means being supportive, not kicking someone when they’re down, and respecting the privacy that we all so graciously deserve.”
At multiple times, Maci interrupted Mackenzie to defend herself — and told her ex’s new girl that they were so set on privacy, then she shouldn’t “sign up to be on a f–king TV show.”
It was revealed that Ryan entered rehab in early June, just weeks before he was seen seemingly driving while under the influence on the show; though it hasn’t been revealed what drugs he was using, Dr. Drew speculated that it was “opioids.”

In a statement about his treatment, Ryan confirmed he was improving after rehab.
“A little over 30 days ago, I made the decision to check myself into a rehabilitation facility,” the 29-year-old said. “I am back home now doing well, and life could not be better. Without the support of my wife and parents, I would not have been able to do this. Thank you all for your well wishes.”
