Keep up the good work, Katie! Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise’s daughter Suri turned 13 years old on Thursday, April 18, which means she is officially a teenager. Uh oh! But it looks like her parents have nothing to worry about. Despite living life in the public eye, the brunette beauty is most definitely not spoiled, and is actually “extremely polite and respectful,” all thanks to her 40-year-old mother.

“Suri is a great kid,” a source confessed to Us Weekly. “She is so sweet and well-mannered … She’s just a good girl who is a joy to be around. Katie has done things right with her because she’s very grounded and down to earth. She doesn’t come across as spoiled or like a celebrity kid at all. She’s kind and she always shows gratitude.” While many Hollywood stars only fly private, for Kate and Suri, that’s just not the case. According to the insider, the Ray Donovan star has made a point “to travel with her [daughter] on commercial planes.”

The insider added that Suri is ‘’a normal tween,” and honestly, we don’t doubt it! Suri celebrated her birthday in a chic yet relatable way. On her big day, she was spotted in the West Village in New York City getting her nails done with a friend and her nanny before heading out to a coffee shop. How mature! Of course, the Top Gun actor’s youngest daughter was rocking an adorable pink outfit with matching Golden Goose sneakers. The girl is a total fashionista. “She loves pop music and fashion and hanging out with her friends. She’s into ballet and dancing. That’s one of her favorite hobbies. She’s curious and loves to learn. She does well in school,” the insider revealed to Us Weekly.

The Dawson’s Creek alum is seriously killing the parenting game, but she has had some help along the way — and no, not from Tom! “Suri has grown up spending a lot of time with Katie’s family in Ohio, and she’s close to her grandparents and aunts,” the source told Us Weekly. “They are a close-knit family and have done everything they can to be there for her and to help with her upbringing.”

As for her father’s involvement? Technically, the Mission: Impossible actor can see his daughter up to 10 days a month, but he chooses not to ”because she is not a Scientologist,” a separate source told the outlet. The last time Tom was spotted with his daughter was in August 2012, when the two took a trip to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park in Lake Buena Vista, California.

Suri was born on April 18, 2006 —before her parents were married! However, months later on November 18, 2006, the former flames tied the knot at a beautiful 15th-century castle in Bracciano, Italy.

In June 2012, The First Daughter star filed for divorce. The Ohio native did not want her daughter’s life to revolve around Scientology: “She wanted Suri to go to a normal school with regular kids,” a source told Us Weekly at the time. Well, Katie, looks like you succeeded! You go, mom!
