So glad she’s okay! Actress Kate Beckinsale took to Instagram to reveal that she had major health scare on Saturday, January 26. The Underworld star is currently being hospitalized after suffering from a ruptured ovarian cyst, and she shared two photos taken from her hospital bed.

“Turns out a ruptured ovarian cyst really hurts and morphine makes me cry. So thankful to everyone who looked after me #wobbly❤️,” the 45-year-old wrote in her caption on Instagram.

According to John Hopkins Medicine, ovarian cysts can form for many different reasons and most of them are not a cause for concern. When a cyst ruptures, it can either cause no symptoms, mild symptoms or severe symptoms. The mild symptoms can be treated with pain medication, while severe symptoms may include severe lower abdomen pain and bleeding. In rare cases, a ruptured cyst may need to be treated with emergency surgery.

Most of Kate’s famous friends commented on her Instagram post with their well wishes, including Isla Fisher, David Spade, Rose McGowan and Sarah Silverman. Fans also sent Kate get-well-soon wishes, but when one fan decided to criticize the Van Helsing star for posting a selfie in the middle of her health scare, Kate clapped back.

“It’s actually not a selfie. My mum took it. In fact, I would not have posted it if we had not noticed someone in a car taking a photo of me leaving the hospital in a wheelchair,” Kate wrote. “I have Instagram largely to have my own honest narrative and not have to always be ambushed by stories that come out that are invented. I’d prefer to say what happened than endure speculation and so I chose to share. I agree, it’s not a normal impulse … Thank you so much to everyone who has wished me well and lots of love to all the girls here who have been through similar or worse. Love to all x.”
