Just one day after Jenelle Evans’ husband, David Eason, was fired from Teen Mom 2 for targeting the LGBTQ community in a series of hateful tweets, the couple’s MTV co-star Kailyn Lowry is reacting to the news. According to Kail, 25, she couldn’t be more thrilled to see David, 29, get the boot.

“The knife and balloon incident was enough for me. But I’m so glad MTV drew the line,” the A Letter of Love author tells In Touch in an exclusive statement. Of course, the “knife and balloon incident” that Kailyn is referring to is David’s decision to pull out a knife and pop balloons during an October 2017 TM2 reunion taping.

Days after the incident took place, Jenelle, 26 — who shares daughter Ensley, 12 months, with David — claimed in an Instagram live video that her spouse simply popped a few balloons because he was denied beer as filming started to wrap up. While Kailyn expressed fright over David’s actions, she found his recent comments about gay and transgender people equally — if not more — appalling.

The drama all began on Wednesday, Feb. 14, when David shared an Instagram pic of Jenelle holding a gun, hours after the deadly shooting at Florida’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, in which 17 people lost their lives. Despite facing major backlash, David doubled down on his opinions about the prospect of concealed carry in schools. “It only makes sense to protect our kids the proper way, the only way we know how,” David wrote, linking to a news story about a bill to allow concealed carry in South Carolina schools.

“Education is how we protect our kids,” a Twitter user wrote back. “Starts with intentional parenting.” David then decided to attack the LGBTQ community. “And just what makes you think you have a right to tell me how to be a parent?” David fired back in a now-deleted tweet. “Because you think you know me? LMAO, why don’t you go tell the homo and transgender parents to start teaching their kids better morals. Oh, I forgot, that’s supposed to be normal.”

That’s when a third Twitter user chimed in, asking David, “Who are you to say what’s normal or what’s moral? Are you going to teach your children to hate gay and transgender people?”

“No,” David responded. “I’m going to teach them not to associate with them or be that way…If you lay down with dogs, you get up with fleas.” And later, David tweeted, “Homophobic? You really lost it now. I’m not scared [of] s–t, especially a homo.”

Hours later, MTV announced that they were officially cutting ties with David due to his offensive remarks. “David Eason’s personal comments do not reflect the views of MTV,” the network wrote in a statement on Twitter. “With six weeks left of production on ‘Teen Mom 2,’ effective immediately, we are ending our relationship with him.”
