You may have been one of the many people who watched ABC’s Live in Front of a Studio Audience: Norman Lear’s All in the Family and The Jeffersons special on Wednesday, May 22. But did you know that Jennifer Aniston’s ex Justin Theroux was one of the executive producers on the project? He credited the idea to smoking weed with Jimmy Kimmel, one of the other producers of the special. No, we are not joking.

“One time I went on vacation with @jimmykimmel,” Justin, 47, posted to his Instagram Story. “And we MIGHT have smoked something … and then we had an idea.” He then added a cutesy video that read, “What if we took old great sitcoms and aired them live on television … with an incredible cast. Woahhhh.” Justin then added a slide that simply read “Cut to:” before concluding the series of posts with a photo of himself on set and a caption that read, “So … thanks, weed.” Hey, credit where credit is due, man.

Jamie Foxx, Woody Harrelson, Ellie Kemper, Ike Barinholtz, Anthony Anderson and Marisa Tomei were all involved in the special. According to Justin, there wouldn’t even have been a live show without a certain herb helping him and Jimmy, 51, to dream up the idea. What if they had settled on some terrible different project instead? The chances of coming up with a good vs. bad plan with the help of weed are pretty even, TBH.

Before this project, Justin was most recently spotted filming a new horror movie, False Positive, with Ilana Glazer on April 7, in New York City. Although they were spotted kissing, it seemed to be just for the sake of the film. Speaking of his love life, Justin got divorced from Jennifer in February 2018, but told The New York Times in September 2018, “The good news is that was probably the most — I’m choosing my words really carefully — it was kind of the most gentle separation, in that there was no animosity.” At least it seems like things ended civilly, and that Justin is keeping busy in the wake of that breakup.
