Nicki Minaj Confirms She and Her Boyfriend, Kenneth Petty, Obtained a Marriage License
Is Nicki Minaj getting married to Kenneth Petty? The “Megatron” rapper dropped some major news to her fans, a.k.a. the Barbz, during the latest episode of her Apple Beats 1 talk show, “Queen Radio,” that aired on June 21. The 36-year-old revealed that she and her boyfriend already have their marriage license — which means they’re planning to tie the knot soon!
“We did get our marriage license,” Nicki revealed. “I think I have what I was striving for, just happiness. It was so hard to get to a happy place. Now that I’m there, I don’t want to compromise that for anyone or anything.”
The Queens, New York native went public with her relationship with Kenneth, 41, in December 2018, by posting several photos with her man. “Did you ever make it out of that town where nothing ever happens?… it’s no secret… that the both of us… are running out of time…🎀🎈🥳♥️, ” she wrote in the caption.
Many of Nicki’s faithful fans would have normally congratulated Nicki on her new relationship, but once Kenneth’s identity was revealed, they questioned her decision to date him. As Radar previously reported, Kenneth had a very shady criminal history. In 1995, when he was 17 years old, Kenneth was convicted of first-degree attempted rape and was sentenced to 18 to 54 years in prison and is also now a registered sex offender.
Nicki was not here for her fans’ comments, and she defended her man at the time. “He was 15, she was 16 … in a relationship. But go awf, Internet,” she wrote in an Instagram comment. “Y’all can’t run my life. Y’all can’t even run y’all own life.”
But even though Nicki and Kenneth have not yet announced an official engagement yet and Nicki has not been sporting any bling on her finger, this isn’t the first time that they’ve sparked marriage rumors. In March, during a previous episode of “Queen Radio,” Nicki referred to her man as her “husband.” Sounds like they’ll be making things official soon!
