‘Teen Mom OG’ Star Gary Shirley Takes a Paternity Test to Find out Who His Father Is
Who's his daddy? On this week's episode of Teen Mom OG, Gary Shirley revealed his very own shocking paternity scandal — but it's not what you'd think! Gary opened up about his own struggle with growing up without a constant father figure in his life and he admitted that his mother's boyfriend Jody might not be his biological father, even though Jody was the only father figure that Gary had in his life while he was younger. But finally, after all these years, Gary and Jody went to take a DNA test to determine if Jody is Gary's father.
Fans were first introduced to Gary when he made his reality TV debut with his then-girlfriend Amber Portwood on their episode of 16 and Pregnant and then after they went on to star on Teen Mom OG. Over the past seven season, Gary often played more of a supporting role since Amber was the star, but earlier this year, Gary got to star on his very own TMOG special titled Being Gary, and that's when viewers first learned about Gary's issues with his parents.
"Growing up, he wasn't there," Gary told his wife Kristina Anderson. "He was married to somebody else." Gary also explained that Jody was never married to Gary's mom Carol and paternity was a touchy subject for him since he and his siblings have different fathers.
Kristina suggested that Gary and Jody take a paternity test to finally get some answers, and they actually agreed. On this week's episode of TMOG, Gary and Jody went to a lab to take a DNA swab test. While they waited for the results to come back, Kristina asked Gary about what he hoped the results will be, and Gary said he wants Jody to be his biological father.
"Yeah because I feel like that would be a question unanswered," Gary said. "I mean like, I've forgiven him for not being there and we are where we are now, where he's a part of my life. So I want him to be my dad but ultimately, I don't know."
