Spike reality competition Ink Master: Angels gave four contestants from Ink Master Season 8 another shot at tattoo glory with a Season 10 slot at stake. After just five episodes, however, contestant Gia Rose vanished from the competition. So what happened to Ink Master Gia anyway? Unfortunately, her sciatic nerve got the best of her.

Gia gave us the scoop in an Oct. 24 tweet. "If you watched tonight's episode of Ink Master: Angels, you know that I suffered a sudden flare-up of my sciatic nerve due to complications of cancer treatment that landed me in the ER," she wrote. "After a difficult time with travel, my doctors decided to ground me from flying until I get my chronic condition under control. This means I am unable to complete filming for the show. So, next week's episode (which was filmed before [tonight's]) will be my final episode. I am sure that Kelly [Doty], Ryan [Ashley], and Nikki [Simpson] will hold it down."

Some fans didn't see that message, however, and became concerned. "Catching up on Ink Master: Angels, and it's like the third episode without Gia, and I'm starting to get worried," tweeted one. "Where has Gia been from Ink Master: Angels? Is she OK?" said another.

As Monsters & Critics reports, Gia was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cervical cancer in January 2014. She didn't have health insurance at the time, so she asked friends and other tattoo artists to help cover her medical expenses.

"I beat cancer, I no longer have cancer, but I still deal with a lot of physical repercussions that are now lifelong … the side effects that they don't talk about which nobody can blame on our medical system, especially with oncologists," she explained to the site. "Their primary concern is to save your life and to get rid of cancer. But sometimes the end results of that can be somewhat debilitating. I think that's the best way that I can give back, is to be very open about it."

On Instagram, Gia recently told followers she is "doing very well" and "getting stronger every day." And she has other good news: She's engaged! Her boyfriend — who owns the West Chester, PA, tattoo studio where she works — popped the question in October. So rest assured, fans: this Angel is doing just fine.
