Back in December, when Tarek and Christina El Moussa revealed they were separated, HGTV confirmed that they had no plans to yank Flip or Flop from the air — but that has since changed, an insider tells In Touch exclusively.
“Producers are planning to pull Flip or Flop,” a network insider tells In Touch. “They’re livid about the very public drama between two of their biggest stars and thinks it’s hurting their brand tremendously.”
Of course, it should come as no surprise that HGTV is fed up with the stars — as In Touch previously reported that they were threatening to sue the couple for breach of contract and insisting they cease putting their drama on display for their many, many fans.
“This is getting really ugly,” a source with the network previously told In Touch. “HGTV is livid with Tarek and Christina. Flip or Flop just won’t be the same if they’re not together, so execs desperately want them to reunite to save the show. If they can’t do that, the network wants them to make it seem like they’re getting along, at least until their contract is over. They were given an ultimatum: Either finish out your contracts or we’ll take you to court [for breach of contract]. The network basically said, ‘You guys need to work together, be seen together as a family, walk down the street together.’”
And now, Christina is playing nice — but only because she’s gunning for a show of her own.
“She has been talking to HGTV about her own series without him,” the source says. “She told the network she wants a younger, sexier, better looking costar.”
When confronted about the possibility of her own spinoff during a Success Path seminar on Jan. 14 — where she appeared without the father of her children and one-time business partner and costar — Christina didn’t even deny it.
“I don’t know,” she demurred. “I’ve got so many things going on. I’m working on so much already.”
