Dr. V Shares Relationship Advice So You and Your S.O. Don’t End up Needing ‘Marriage Boot Camp’ (EXCLUSIVE)
No one knows relationships like Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars host Dr. Venus Nicolino — better known as “Dr. V” among fans. In an exclusive interview, the witty blonde beauty dished on what’s to come and how you can avoid making the same mistakes as some of your favorite Hollywood couples.
Season 9 of the hit We TV series included celebrities like Teen Mom 2 stars Kailyn Lowry and Javi Marroquin, Peter Gunz and Amina Buddafly from Love & Hip Hop: New York, Bachelor in Paradise alums JJ Lane and Juelia Kinney, Asifa Mirza and Bobby Panahi from Shahs of Sunset, and Bad Girls Club star Mehgan James and DeAndre Perry. When asked how she felt about this season and the turnouts, Dr. V told In Touch, “Viewers will definitely be surprised at how things play out this season. I know [co-host] Dr. Ish and I were. Looking back on this season, what really stuck with me was that no matter how many times we do this show, nobody ever really knows what’s coming next. Dysfunctional romance and relationships are unpredictable and volatile already. Locking all these people in a house together for ten days guarantees you’ll see conflict, but also resolution.”

Dr. V also shared what these celebrity couples can do differently to make sure things work out during their time together. “Not being a–holes to each other goes a long way,” she quipped. “Respect. Good communication. Intimacy. Oral sex. The usual. They don’t let the culture of ‘Don’t Fix It, Get A New One’ influence who and how they love. That applies to everyone’s relationships, not just Hollywood’s, by the way.”
There are also some dating myths she would like to see the world stop believing, such as, “‘The Person Who Cares Less Wins’ — waiting a certain amount of time to call someone after a date is a classic example. This is bulls–t. The person who cares less, gets less.”
Take the chance, be the one to call first, to let yourself be vulnerable first, to say ‘I love you’ first. What’s the worst that could happen? The person you like will know you like them? Oh no! Letting yourself be vulnerable and risking rejection is it’s own kind of courageous confidence.”
Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars airs on Fridays at 9 p.m. EST on We TV.
