Their love just wasn’t built to last! One month after YouTube star David Dobrik married his best friend’s mom in an epic stunt, the prankster is filing for divorce. On Wednesday, June 12, a source close to the star confirmed the heartbreaking news to Us Weekly. Though he enjoyed his brief romance with fellow YouTuber Jason Nash‘s mom, Lorraine Nash, all good things must come to an end.

“David loved being married to Lorraine, and the two will continue to remain close friends,” an insider told Us about the 22-year-old star and the mom of his 46-year-old pal. “Trials and tribulations. They tried it out, but sometimes love isn’t meant to last forever, and they came to the agreeable conclusion that their love wasn’t meant for forever, but was great while it lasted!”

The YouTuber later confirmed the news himself on Instagram, writing, “I am heartbroken to announce that Lorraine and I have decided to end our romantic relationship. We wish this news would have come from us first, however, we know it’s difficult for the media to resist speculation. We have tried so hard to make things work. Sometimes in life, you just aren’t enough for someone, no matter what you do for them or what you try to be. Lorraine, you have been my light, my muse and my confidante. You’ve taught me not only how to love another person but how to love myself.”

Though the divorce means that Jason will no longer be his 20-years-younger friend’s stepson, it’s clear David will love Lorraine’s children like his own. Though their marriage didn’t last, the star isn’t abandoning his family. “We will continue to love and support one another while being great friends and parents to our children,” he continued in his statement. “I thank everyone in advance for respecting our privacy at this time.”

The whirlwind marriage began when David and Jason were ragging on each other in the car. “It’s so crazy to think that your kids love your ex-wife’s new boyfriend more than you,” the 22-year-old joked. In response, the 46-year-old clapped back, “It’s so crazy to think that you’ll never have an ex-wife ’cause no one will f–king marry you ever.” With that, David set out to prove that someone would marry him — and that someone would be Jason’s mom. After flying out to Boston to propose to Lorraine, the YouTuber whisked his bride-to-be away to Vegas so that they could legally tie the knot before jetting off to honeymoon in Hawaii.

When the prankster finally reveals what he’s done, his best friend is awe-struck. “You didn’t,” he said in the video before he and Josh Peck give David a round of applause for his over-the-top stunt. “Congratulations, welcome to the family,” he finally said. But how does he feel now? In the comments of the Instagram post where the 22-year-old revealed he and Lorraine have split, Jason had one simple comment: “Up next: custody battle.”
