Actor Cuba Gooding Jr. officially turned himself over to the NYPD’s Special Victim Unit on Thursday, June 13, after allegations that he groped a woman in a Manhattan nightclub surfaced. The 30-year-old woman told cops that the 51-year-old grabbed her breast while they were out at the Magic Hour Rooftop Bar and Lounge on 7th Avenue in Midtown, according to reports.

Cuba’s attorney Mark J. Heller said he viewed surveillance of the “entire event” and “there was not a drop of criminal conduct or inappropriate activity on his part.” Cuba is denying the claims.

“I know the video, which covered the entire evening, shows absolutely no conduct or any inappropriateness on Cuba’s part,” the lawyer told People. “And I am frankly shocked the prosecutor would consider a case like this.”

Mark said he intends to “vigorously defend” the Hollywood A-lister. “I have known Cuba for almost 30 years, and his conduct towards women is always respectful,” he said. “He respects women, and he would never engage in that type of activity.”

At the time of the incident, Cuba was spotted on video leaving the club shortly after the event happened, and the woman called 911 around 1 a.m. By the time the officers showed up to the scene, he was nowhere to be found.

The New York native appeared to be drunk in several Instagram videos posted by fans. In one clip, he sang Journey’s song “Faithfully” surrounded by a crowd of people. In another clip, he filmed a video message for one fan in Portuguese and seemed to be having a great time.

This isn’t the first time Cuba has gotten in trouble, either. In 2016, the Oscar winner gave a drunk speech at an awards show. “Nothing says I love you like f—king sugar,” he told the crowd at the Footwear News Achievement Awards in New York via an Instagram video. “F—king boxed lunched. I’m drunk now, motherf—kers. Deal with it.” Later that same year, Cuba was spotted partying in Miami without his shirt on and looked like a hot mess.

Cuba was married to his high school sweetheart, Sara Kapfer, for 20 years until she filed for legal separation in 2014. Ultimately, they couldn’t make it work as Cub filed for divorce in January 2017. Since then, he has been linked to Claudine De Niro.
