Shortly after In Touch revealed that Tarek wanted his wife back so their show, Flip or Flop, could go on, the magazine has learned that she is ready to say goodbye to her ex and move on with her own projects!
“Tarek isn’t really in the picture for Christina as far as future projects go,” an insider tells In Touch exclusively. “Career-wise, she’s looking to do shows with HGTV and elsewhere [without him].”
The news that Christina wants to do a show without the father of her two children comes shortly after In Touch exclusively revealed that Season 7 will only be five episodes and there are currently no plans for an eighth season. There will be, however, five Flip or Flop spin-offs that follow new couples in different markets around the United States (Christina and Tarek stuck primarily to their native Southern California).
This isn’t the first we’ve heard of Christina’s desires to have her own series.
“She has been talking to HGTV about her own series without him,” a network source previously told In Touch. “She told the network she wants a younger, sexier, better-looking co-star.”
Despite their impending divorce, Christina and Tarek had previously insisted that they plan to continue filming their series — and “love” working together, despite their drama in their personal lives.
“We have so much fun on set and we look forward to continuing the show,” Christina said in February. “We met at work, so we worked together before we ever started dating. It’s our normal.”
Around the same time, Tarek said, “In this entire process, me and Christina have been professional. We love what we do and hope to continue to film the show.”
