Britney Spears’ Dad Jamie Spotted for the First Time After Life-Threatening Hospitalization

It looks like he’s feeling better! Britney Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, was spotted for the first time in public months after suffering a life-threatening colon rupture. Jamie was photographed driving himself around in a bright yellow car on Easter Sunday, April 21.

Jamie, 66, appeared to be in good spirits while enjoying the sunny weather with his windows down and he even had fishing rods in his trunk, so perhaps he had a relaxing yet fun outing ahead.

As fans may recall, Britney previously opened up about his health struggles during a candid Instagram post in January 2019. “I don’t even know where to start with this, because this is so tough for me to say,” the pop star wrote. “I will not be performing my new show Domination. I’ve been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart. However, it’s important to always put your family first … and that’s the decision I had to make.”

“A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died,” the songstress continued, referring to Jamie’s huge scare where his colon spontaneously ruptured and he was immediately admitted into surgery. Britney later revealed that she’s so “grateful” he recovered and is still alive, but noted how he has a long road ahead of him. “I had to make the difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this time,” she wrote. “I hope you all can understand.”

According to E! News, Jamie has been making major strides. “Jamie is definitely doing better health-wise,” an insider revealed to the outlet in March about how he is doing. “He is still recovering in Louisiana and Britney’s been coming back and forth to spend time with him. She’s doing OK with it all right now and is just trying to be a supportive as possible.”

On the bright side, Britney also enjoyed some quality time with her boyfriend, Sam Asghari, at The Montage hotel in Beverly Hills on Easter. The two were seen out and about together shortly after the pop star revealed that she checked into a wellness center amid her father’s health issues.
