Briana DeJesus’ Daughter Is Undergoing Some Scary Surgery in New ‘Teen Mom’ Episode

Briana’s daughter Stella is one tough cookie.

Just a few days after she was born, mom Briana found out that Stella had holes in her heart. Over the years, that meant she had to deal with some serious treatments to try and fix them.

It wasn’t easy on Briana as a mom.

While talking to Radar Online in September 2017, she revealed, “She has some heart condition, she has holes in her heart. It’s been difficult dealing with Stella right now.”

The baby’s dad didn’t make things any easier.

Initially, Briana wanted to stay with Stella’s dad, Luis Hernandez, for their daughter. “We’ve been just trying to figure it out for the sake of this baby,” she told MTV producers in 2017. “Yeah, we want to move in together, we — hopefully, I would like to get married, all this grown-up stuff. Cause I’m an adult, not 16 and pregnant.”

But Luis didn’t come through for them.

In January 2019, Briana put her ex on blast for being an absentee dad. “This is exactly what I didn’t want for Stella,” she wrote on Twitter. “I wanted Stella to have an active father figure in her life and I knew I was going to get the complete opposite. And then I’ll be the s–tty parent if I decide to cut all ties. SMH.”

Luckily, Stella seemed to make it through okay.

And her health issues were addressed. About a month after the little girl’s first birthday, her mom revealed that she no longer had any heart murmurs. “All the holes are closed!” Briana announced on her twitter in August 2018.

But it wasn’t long before she had another scary health battle.

Later in August 2018, Briana revealed that Stella had been back in surgery once more. “She has septic arthritis,” she told Radar Online at the time. “It’s common in kids.”

Now, on the show, she’s revealing even more details about the scare.

“A few days ago, I noticed Stella was having trouble moving her arm,” Briana shares with the cameras, “so I took her to the hospital. It turns out she had a serious bacterial infection and had to have emergency surgery.”

Her little girl had to go under the knife once more.

“She’s doing better now, but she has to stay in the hospital for a few days so they could monitor her,” she continued in the clip, giving fans insight into what was going on behind the scenes after revealing that Stella was recovering back in August 2018. At the time, she told Radar that the infection was common, but “could always come back.”

Briana’s mom revealed more details while picking up Nova.

The medical scare took a toll on the whole family, but luckily the girls’ grandma was able to help pick up the slack. “Septic arthritis, the infection is in her joint,” Roxanne told Brittany DeJesus. “She’s on antibiotics. She’ll be on antibiotics for a month or two.”

Nova helped take care of her little sister, too.

While in the car with Roxanne, they called Briana and Stella, who they were affectionately calling Stellita, to check in and see how they were doing. The 7-year-old chatted with her mom and exchanged “I love yous” while Bri and her youngest daughter were still in the hospital.

Stella’s doing okay these days.

Months after her surgery took place, the little girl seems happy and healthy. But even at the time, Briana was sharing updates with her fans on social media. “Even when she’s super sick, she’s still my silly Stella,” she shared on Instagram.

IRL, the star’s got new concerns.

Though reliving Stella’s health scare on TV can’t be easy, these days Briana has plenty of excitement with her new boyfriend, Johnny. Though she’s “not in any rush,” the Teen Mom star has admitted that she’s thought about having more kids with her new man.

Currently, the star and her BF are long-distance.

She lives in Florida and he lives in New York, but they’ve been making it work. In a recent Instagram story, she called Johnny her “future baby daddy” as they celebrated his birthday together. “I’m very happy and my relationship with him is in such a good place,” she told In Touch.

But being a single mom still isn’t easy.

She may have love, but love can’t solve all your problems. In December 2018, she also opened up about how hard it is to be a single mom. “All I ever wanted was for both my kids to have everything. I am only one person and I try my hardest to give them everything,” she wrote on Instagram. “It breaks my heart to know that they won’t get to experience certain things due to others not wanting to be involved in their life or will be limited. As a true loving parent, you do everything you can to be there for them. I’ll continue to do the best that I can because I love my kids so much.”

It’s clear Bri will do anything for her daughters.

Hopefully, there aren’t too many more health scares in their future, though. With everything that Stella has gone through, it seems like they’ve had more than their fair share.
