Angelina Jolie Says ‘Fame’ Is a Part of Her Children’s Lives: ‘It’s All Fun’
Growing up Jolie-Pitt! Even though Angelina Jolie is a famous actress, the brunette beauty seems to have a handle on how often to protect her six children — Maddox, 18, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and twins Vivienne and Knox, both 11 — from the spotlight. “The good thing, I think, is I’ve wanted them to be exposed to it all,” the 44-year-old Maleficent: Mistress of Evil star told Extra on Sunday, September 29, while promoting her new movie. “It’s part of their life, but it’s not important to them and a center of their lives in a way that’s unhealthy, so it’s all fun.”
The California native has been in the industry for quite some time, but it seems like at the end of the day, she loves being around her kiddos — whom she shares with ex Brad Pitt. “You have to go through everything — everything leads to something else, and it’s you,” she explained. “Hang on. That’s what I would say to my younger self. Just, ‘Hang on. You’re gonna love being a mom.’”
The mom of six — who frequently takes her kids shopping or out to lunch — recently got candid about some of the big changes her youngsters are going through. “When your children are little, you feel more ‘mommy,’” she told HELLO! magazine in an interview published on September 9. “When they are teenagers, you start to remember yourself as a teenager. You see them going to punk clubs, and you wonder why you can’t go. I’m in this fun moment where I’m rediscovering myself.”
Even though Angie’s oldest son, Maddox, recently went to college, it seems like she couldn’t be happier for his next chapter in life. “She’s so proud of Maddox,” a source told In Touch at the time. “She initially thought he might want to stay in Los Angeles and get into movies and animation. Angie laid out a path for Maddox and a love of Asia, but she never thought he’d continue his studies in South Korea, let alone go to college there and study biochemistry. She couldn’t be more proud of him.”
However, Brad, 55, was noticeably absent when Angie dropped off Maddox at school, and it seems like there are still some issues that need to be resolved within the family. In a video interview exclusively obtained by In Touch, the cameraman asked Maddox if his famous father would be making an appearance on campus at Yonsei University in Incheon, South Korea. “Um, I don’t know about that … what’s happening,” he said. “Whatever happens, happens.”
While Brad likes to hang out with his kids privately, it looks like Angelina doesn’t mind taking her brood out and about. Whatever works for them!
