Angelina Jolie is speaking out for the first time since announcing her divorce from Brad Pitt.
During a press tour for her new film First They Killed My Father, the 41-year-old finally addressed her ongoing divorce drama with her estranged husband. Although she chose not to reveal many details about their split, she opened up about how her family is coping.
"It's been a difficult few months," Angelina told the BBC. "Right now I'm going through a moment where there's just, everybody's in my room. Two hamsters and two dogs and two children at the moment. It's wonderful. So usually I just wake up trying to figure out who's going to get the dog out, who's gonna start the pancakes and did anybody brush their teeth."
Brad and Angelina filed for divorce last September after two years of marriage and 12 years as a couple. They share 15-year-old son Maddox, 13-year-old son Pax, 12-year-old Zahara, 10-year-old daughter Shiloh, and eight-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne together — and they’re in the middle of a tense custody battle over their six children.
But even though things are tough between her and Brad, Angelina said she her only focus right now is making sure that her children make it through this time as a strong family unit.
“Many people find themselves in this situation. My whole family — we’ve all been through difficult times. And my focus is my children, our children — and my focus is finding this way through," she revealed. "As I said, we are and forever will be a family, so that is how I’m coping. I’m finding a way through to make sure that this somehow makes us stronger and closer.”
