American Idol standout Casey Adams was hospitalized for the second time this season, just one night after he wowed judges with his performance of the Joe Cocker version of The Beatles' "With a Little Help from My Friends."
"You'll notice that Casey is missing from the group. He is unfortunately sick and in the hospital right now," host Ryan Seacrest said on Thursday. "Wave to him. We know you're watching buddy, feel better — shout out to the nurses! Get back here soon, okay?"
According to The Hollywood Reporter, a source describes Casey's condition as ulcerative colitis, an inflammatory bowel disease that affects the lining of the large intestine. It has been reported that Casey has now had two blood transfusions.
Casey took to his Twitter to update his fans: "Hey guys, thanks for the well wishes," he wrote Thursday. "I got some nice fresh blood in me and I'm feeling better. People at Idol & Cedars are treating me real good."
He also posted a message for Ashthon Jones, the most recent Idol finalist voted off the show: “I love you girl. I know for a fact we will meet up again in the near future. And your hair better be even bigger next time.”
