Lookin’ good, fam! Tyler Baltierra took to Instagram on Tuesday, January 24, to share a sweet update about his father and sister. The two have been battling addiction for years, but now it seems as though they’re happy and healthy. Keep scrolling to see how the Teen Mom OG stars are doing today.
“Writing this with tears in my eyes because words can’t express the amount of peace & joy I feel in my heart,” Tyler, 27, captioned a shot with Butch, 56, and Amber, 31.

“After seeing these two at their lowest & now seeing them sober & steadily climbing, I just can’t say enough how proud I am of both of them!” he continued. “I am a firm believer that the power of unconditional love in a family can truly transform the dynamic & I’m just so happy to call these two my family…I love you both SO MUCH & I’m SO PROUD OF YOU!!! @xoambularxo@baltierramtv#Family#Recovery#NeverGiveUp#Baltierras.”

Despite being a good dad to daughter Novalee (and his soon-to-be baby girl), Tyler’s father was the epitome of an absentee parent when he was growing up. After someone complimented him on being a good dad despite his upbringing, he — in a very roundabout way — gave credit to Butch.

“I always said [my dad] taught me what NOT to do as a father, so he still taught me something lol,” Tyler once wrote on Twitter.

For much of Tyler’s childhood, his father, whose real name is Darl, was behind bars. In fact, Butch’s rap sheet runs deep.

In October 2016, he went to jail for a short period of time after he was caught operating a motor vehicle on a suspended license.

Not long before that, he served four years on home invasion, larceny and breaking and entering charges. He was released from prison in August 2015, just in time to attend Tyler’s wedding to Catelynn Lowell.

The main reason Butch wasn’t around much was because of his addiction issues. When he wasn’t serving time for drug charges, he was, well, doing drugs.

Despite their rocky relationship, Tyler trusts his father from time to time and has often been criticized for it. In 2017, Tyler and Catelynn went on a romantic getaway to Puerto Rico and left their then two-year-old, Nova, with Butch.

At the time, he was sober, but it hadn’t been for very long and he was fresh out of prison. That fall, Tyler was also spotted on a beer run with his dad.

Meanwhile, in May 2018, Butch and Amber’s ex-husband Billy Wade Elkins Jr. confirmed to Radar Online that she entered rehab.

“These two. They are my rock,” Ty’s big sis captioned a photo at the time with her son and daughter. “Mommy loves you more than you guys may know right now … You both deserve nothing but the best, and I will give that to you. I’m gonna miss you these 90 days. Just know I love you both with every fiber in me.”

She added, “When mom gets home, she’s gonna be the best woman I can be and a [sic] even better mom. I’ll pray for your comfort and happiness every day I’m not with you.”

“Show the world your [sic] my babies and you guys are strong and can get through anything,” Amb concluded, “because well, you got Baltierra blood and it don’t get stronger than that.”

These days, however, based on Tyler’s photo and caption, both Amber and Butch seem to be living their best lives. We’re so happy for them!
