‘Teen Mom OG’ Star Amber Portwood Reveals She Sadly Suffered A Miscarriage
A lot of women unfortunately experience miscarriages. And sadly, Teen Mom OG star Amber Portwood recently revealed that she suffered a miscarriage during a past pregnancy, which meant she was able to relate to her ex Gary Shirley‘s wife, Kristina Anderson, when she spoke about going through the devastating event herself in a clip for an upcoming episode of the MTV reality series.
Amber is the mother of Leah Leann Shirley, and became one of the stars of 16 And Pregnant during her pregnancy with Leah, whom she shares with Gary. She also has a son, James Andrew Glennon, with her partner Andrew Glennon. But in the clip teasing an upcoming episode of the spin-off series Teen Mom OG, she revealed that she once miscarried a different pregnancy while she was with a former partner, Matt Baier.
In the clip, while Amber is visiting her daughter at Gary’s house, she learns that Kristina went through a miscarriage and decided to have her tubes tied. Amber then says, “I never told anybody but like, when I was with Matt I had a miscarriage.”
Leah then asks the adults how someone can have a miscarriage “with your tubes not tied,” and both Amber and Kristina explain that it’s just something that naturally happens sometimes.
Kristina then reveals in the clip that she even heard her baby’s heartbeat during an ultrasound, but the doctors told her there was nothing to be done. Amber very sincerely tells her she’s sorry, and says she knows how it feels. “It’s really sad, I’m so sorry you had to go through that,” Amber tells Kristina.
Sadly, a lot of women know how both Kristina and Amber felt in that moment. According to March of Dimes, when it comes to women who know they’re pregnant, about 10 to 15 in 100 pregnancies end in miscarriage, and WebMD reports that over 80 percent of miscarriages occur during the first three months of pregnancy.
What Amber and Kristina both went through is really tough for any woman to experience. Thankfully, Amber has two beautiful kids now, but that doesn’t mean she’s about to forget the pregnancy that she unfortunately lost.
