Susan Farmer from My 600-lb Life tipped the scales at 607 pounds when she first appeared on the hit TLC show, but now, after shedding more than half of her body weight, the Texas native is living a totally new life.

Along with undergoing gastric bypass surgery, Susan went under the knife to remove a lymphoma on her stomach. Now weighing just more than 200 pounds, she can wear jeans for the first time since she was a teenager.

“It sounds kind of silly, but the first thing I am going to do once the skin is removed is that I am going to get a pair of jeans because I haven’t worn a pair of jeans since high school,” she said on a My 600-lb Life: Where Are They Now special. “This whole belly just needs to go. Having it gone will be like being set free from prison.”

Though she could hardly even walk at one point, and had to sit at the grocery story every few minutes, she’s now swimming to get in her exercise. On the special, she revealed that her friends, who let her use their pool for regular workouts, are a big reason she’s kept the weight off. “They’ve been really supportive of me losing the weight,” she said.

And after being diagnosed with a nerve condition called neuropathy, which leaves severely overweight and obese people with critically damaged nerves, Susan definitely needed a helping hand. She once risked paralysis as a result of her weight, but now, she’s incredibly active and even uses her medical scare as inspiration to keep pushing forward.

“I’ve been thinking about being in a wheelchair, and using that as motivation to keep going,” she said. “The surgery was my second chance at life. And I’m not going to let a setback like this take that from me. I’m going to fight. I’m going to do everything I possibly can to get better.”
