This is a bold claim. Spencer Pratt spoke about the return of The Hills and revealed that Mischa Barton wouldn’t drink on camera, but alleged that she did so when they were turned off. “Let me tell you — whoa, spoiler alert — the first time I shot a scene with Mischa, we were having dinner and she wouldn’t drink any white wine,” he explained to Cosmopolitan. “They kept asking and she’s all ‘No, no, I don’t drink.’ Second those cameras were down, home girl downs three glasses like it’s a competition.” A representative for Mischa did not immediately respond to In Touch’s request for comment.

Mischa, 33, joined The Hills after starring on The O.C. from 2003 to 2006. Her inclusion in the reboot marks her big return to TV after staying out of the spotlight following some troubling incidents. In 2007, Mischa pleaded no contest to a DUI and driving without a license. She had to enter court-ordered rehab and get supervision from a sober coach, People reported. “I think I was just really stressed out,” she said. “I don’t think any of it would have happened if I hadn’t been under such enormous pressure.”

Hills OG star Heidi Montag, who is Spencer’s wife, was a little put off by Mischa’s personality when she first started on the show. “I think it was a little frustrating for me at first, because, like, we’ve put our whole lives into this show before and after, so to have someone come in and, like, be so reserved was a little bit frustrating,” Heidi, 32, told Us Weekly on June 20. “I don’t think it was intentional, I think that is, like, how she is, and she’s just a little more closed and needed a little more time to open [up].”

On the show, Mischa was introduced as Stephanie Pratt’s friend and they connected over their pasts. Mischa explained that she was a victim of revenge porn and Stephanie said she was arrested after she overdosed while shoplifting. Perhaps they’ll continue to connect over their troubled youth as the series continues.
