Fans Are Convinced Selena Gomez’s New Single ‘Lose You to Love Me’ Is About Ex Justin Bieber
It’s Selenators vs. Beliebers … again! On Friday, October 18, Selena Gomez took to Twitter to announce her upcoming single, “Lose You to Love Me,” and based on the title alone, fans are convinced the sure-to-be emotional track is about her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber.
“I need to lose you to love me,” the songstress, 27, captioned her post — which of course, only added fuel to the fire. “Justin is shaking,” one user commented. “Justin is OVER. We stan,” added another.
“Lose Justin to love yourself?” a third person inquired, while a fourth echoed, “She’s coming for his neck!” While a lot of the comments were championing Selena, especially after such a long musical hiatus, others were less than pleased that she’d potentially release anything about Justin.
After all, since the pair officially ended their on-again, off-again relationship, Justin has gone on to create a whole new life for himself, including marrying Hailey Baldwin. However, just because Justin moved on, doesn’t mean that the “I Don’t Care” crooner, 25, has refrained from publicly speaking about Selena.
In fact, on March 25, Justin shared a lengthy message, addressing trolls who claimed that he married Hailey, 22, to “get back” at Selena. “You’re immature. The fact that you have an account dedicated to dissing my wife and me is absolutely absurd. Why would I dedicate my whole life to someone in marriage to get back at my ex?” the pop star reasoned.
“Anyone who believes this is mean-spirited or 10 years old or younger because a logical person doesn’t talk or think this way. You should be ashamed of yourself, really. I absolutely loved and love Selena,” Justin admitted. “She will always hold a place in my heart, but I am head over heels in love with my wife and she is absolutely the BEST THING that has ever happened to me, period.”
Hmmm, “loved and love,” huh? Ultimately, Justin speaking about Selena on social media isn’t much different from her releasing a single about him … should that actually be the case. So long as they’re both respectful to each other, we’re here for it!
Let’s just hope their individual fandoms can agree.
