He needs to calm down. Justin Bieber seemingly mocked a video of Taylor Swift taken not long after she had laser eye surgery that was shared during her October 3 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. In the original video, a rather out of it Taylor freaked out over a banana, and Justin made fun of her reaction during a live video on Instagram on Sunday, October 6. In the clip, Justin, 25, imitated Taylor, 29, and shouted, “It’s not the banana I wanted! It’s not the right banana. It has no head.”

Fans might not have thought much of the video except that it came just months after the “Shake It Off” singer called out Justin and his manager, Scooter Braun, for “incessant, manipulative bullying” after her former record label, Big Machine Label Group, was sold to Scooter in June. There’s a chance Justin meant no harm by the video and was just teasing, but Taylor’s fans didn’t see it that way.

“Justin went on Instagram Live making fun of Taylor with the banana and I just cannot,” one fan wrote on Twitter. “How do young women support this garbage???? He literally says sorry to Taylor, then continues to shame and bash her in the same comment. Had he had enough?” Another said, “Justin can take his fake apology caption on Insta that Scooter ghostwrote and shove it up his ass LMFAO 2 months later he continues to bully Taylor who is minding her business and living her life.”

They’re likely referring to Justin’s apology to Taylor after the Scooter drama, in which he wrote, in part, “Scooter and I love you. I feel like the only way to resolve conflict is through communication. So banter back and forth online I don’t believe solves anything. I’m sure Scooter and I would love to talk to you and resolve any conflict, pain or any feelings that need to be addressed. Neither Scooter or I have anything negative to say about you we truly want the best for you.”

For what it’s worth, the original video was sent to Jimmy Fallon in good fun by Taylor’s mother, Andrea Swift. He showed it during her interview as a total surprise to Taylor. Justin may have found the whole thing funny and just wanted to pay homage to it. But after their public controversy just months ago, the timing of the initiation video is a little weird and may appear to be more mocking than in jest to Taylor and her fans.
