In a statement Selena Gomez gave to People magazine, she reveals that she will be "taking time off" for "anxiety, panic attacks and depression" which she cites as side effects of the autoimmune disease lupus.
In a world exclusive, on newsstands now, In Touch reveals that Selena has been partying so much that friends were worried she might need to go back to rehab.
The 24-year-old has been on her Revival world tour for almost four months now, but says she needs to face what she’s dealing with “head-on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best.” Her tour was supposed to run through December, but she has not specified whether the remaining dates will be rescheduled.
A friend of Selena’s tells In Touch, “She’s been showing a lot of signs that worry her friends who’ve seen this behavior before. First she gets depressed, then has massive anxiety, then starts drinking and partying way too hard, then goes into denial and finally has a breakdown.”
“Selena’s major source of unhappiness right now is twofold,” explains an insider. “She’s realizing that the career she so desperately wanted as a child doesn’t fulfill her anymore. And then there’s her inability to date a nice, normal guy.”
“This is the worst we’ve ever seen her and she seems to get worse every week,” says the friend. “If she does end up back in rehab, we just hope she remains there for at least a month rather than just a few days so that she truly gets the help she needs.”
