He’s already a rock star in his own right! VH1 added a lot of new faces to the cast of Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood, but besides K. Michelle, it seems like no one comes to the crew as accomplished as RoccStar. The music producer (real name: Leon Youngblood Jr.) already had a pretty impressive resume before he joined the cast, working with artists like Rihanna, Post Malone, and Kendrick Lamar, and he explained why he decided to join the reality TV world.

“With accolades like mine, reality television wouldn’t be something that somebody just jumps into. But with me, it’s just not music, it’s more about personality,” he said in an interview with VH1. “Let me let people see me. I chose Love & Hip Hop because it’s the closest thing I could relate to on television.”

But it helps that RoccStar also has a history with some of his new cast members. is friends with OG cast member Ray J and he even has a history of beefing with A1 Bentley, who has been part of the cast for three seasons. RoccStar knew A1 because A1’s wife Lyrica Anderson worked with RoccStar and A1 would attend their studio sessions.

It seems like the core of A1 and RoccStar’s beef is just some friendly competition — and they even had a lighthearted roast session while hanging out with Ray J during a recent episode.

But things between RoccStar and A1 get complicated when they start to fight over the chance to work with cast newcomer Apple Watts, a stripper who is looking to break into the music industry. Apple had already started a working relationship with A1 when she decided to meet RoccStar in the studio to see what his vision was for her music, but she quickly realized that RoccStar might be using her as a pawn to get over on A1.

“I don’t know what faulty stuff [is] going on, but I know RoccStar’s not about to use me to get back at A1,” she said in her confessional. “That’s not my get down.”

Catch RoccStar on the current season of Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood, airing Mondays at 8 p.m. on VH1.
