The show must go on? Rent star Brennin Hunt injured himself during rehearsals on January 26, one day before the live show was supposed to air on Fox. The musician was expected to play the central role of Roger Davis, an HIV-positive musician who falls for Mimi. However, the cast and crew is staying positive that the long-awaited broadcast will be happening.

“Last night during a live performance of Fox’s production of Rent, one of the actors, Brennin Hunt, was injured,” Fox confirmed in a statement to In Touch on January 27. “But in the spirit of Rent, everyone — producers and cast, original and current — is dedicated to ensuring that tonight’s broadcast must, and will, go on.”

The Hollywood Reporter said that the actor appeared to have rolled his ankle and was taken to the hospital after rehearsals. It looks like, for now, the performance is still happening with or without Brennin.

The show also stars Vanessa Hudgens, Tinashe and Jordan Fisher. The show is a rock musical based on the book by Jonathon Larson about a group of young musicians struggling to survive in Manhattan’s East Village.

“The experience of putting together this beautiful new production of my brother’s work, while emotional, has been truly joyous for all of us. This new cast has embodied the spirit of the show from day one and they embraced Brennin with positive and uplifting love in his moment of need,” executive producer Julie Larson said in a statement to In Touch. “Rent has always been about resilience and community. I speak from my heart when I say that we have a spectacular show for you tonight. We can’t wait for a new generation to experience Jonathan’s legacy.”

We’ll have to wait and see if Brennin will appear in the live show. Fingers crossed for the young actor!
