‘Property Brothers’ Star Jonathan Scott Is Dating Zooey Deschanel: ‘I Was Caught a Little Off Guard’
Moving on! Zooey Deschanel is dating Property Brothers star Jonathan Scott — just one week after announcing her split from her husband, Jacob Pechenik — In Touch can confirm. The HGTV star confirmed he was seeing someone during an interview with Us Weekly on Friday, September 13, but he played coy about the identity of the new lucky lady in his life.
“I am seeing someone,” Jonathan, 41, said. “I’m a very private person, so I don’t typically talk about that. It’s definitely special for me because I am the guy who raises the bar in what I’m looking for in a partner. I was caught a little off guard. It was definitely a pleasant surprise.”
The 500 Days of Summer actress, 39, first sparked dating rumors with Jonathan when they were spotted together holding hands as they walked to Little Dom’s restaurant in Silver Lake, California on Friday. But they may have known each other for longer than they’ve been dating. Back in August, Jonathan’s twin brother, Drew Scott, took to his Instagram page to share two photos of him, Jonathan, Zooey and Zooey’s sister Emily Deschanel, all together in a car. “🎶 Brothers and sisters everybody sing 🎶 😄 Quick, we need a band name for @carpoolkaraoke !!!#carpoolkaraoke #siblingsthatsing,” Drew, 41, wrote in the caption.
But it seems like even though they may have been friends for a while, they waited to go public with their relationship until Zooey announced her split from her estranged husband of four years, Jacob. “After much discussion and a long period of contemplation we have decided we are better off as friends, business partners and co-parents rather than life partners,” the former couple said in their joint statement to Us Weekly on September 6. “We remain committed to our business, our values and most of all our children. Thank you for respecting our privacy at this time.” Zooey and Jacob share two children together, a 4-year-old daughter named Elsie and a 2-year-old son named Charlie.
