Miley Cyrus’ ‘Slide Away’ Music Video: Liam Hemsworth Easter Eggs

Is Miley Cyrus giving fans some insight into her relationship with her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth? Sure seems like it! The pop star dropped her new music video for her hit song “Slide Away” on Friday, September 6, and it seems like the 26-year-old left a lot of Easter eggs for her fans.

Miley and Liam called it quits after 10 years together in August. Shortly afterward, the blonde beauty was spotted making out and canoodling with her new love Kaitlynn Carter — who also recently split from her ex-husband, Brody Jenner — during their Italian getaway. However, Miley took to Twitter on August 22 to clear the rumors about her marriage. “But the truth is, once Liam and I reconciled, I meant it, and I was committed,” she wrote at the time. “There are NO secrets to uncovered here. I’ve learned from every experience in my life. I’m not perfect, I don’t want to be, it’s boring. I’ve grown up in front of you, but the bottom line is, I HAVE GROWN UP.”

She added, “I can admit to a lot of things, but I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of cheating. Liam and I have been together for a decade. I’ve said it before, and it remains true, I love Liam and always will.”

New Ink

Miley is floating face up in the pool during one shot where the viewer can see all of her tattoos — including her new one. At the MTV Video Music Awards, the “Malibu” crooner debuted her new ink during her performance. The tattoo reads, “My head was feeling scared, but my heart was feeling free” and is a lyric from the Pixies’ song “The Thing.”

Hidden Meaning?

There is a panda costume in the bed, and previously, Miley wore a panda suit during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in 2017. The Grammy nominee went on the late-night show to talk about her single “Malibu” at the time — which was about the Australian hunk. She sings, “But here I am, next to you / The sky’s more blue in Malibu / Next to you in Malibu.”

Over It

Throughout the video, Miley is surrounded by people partying. It seems very similar to the “We Can’t Stop” music video, but this time, it looks like the actress wants to start over. “I am proud to say, I am simply in a different place from where I was when I was younger,” she recently said on Twitter.

While Miley is in the pool, there is a disco ball next to her which might be referring to her “Wrecking Ball” days. In 2014, Miley was a bit ~wild~ after she split from Liam the first time. Miley also wore disco pasties to Art Basel during that time. Maybe the entertainer is leaving her crazy past behind once and for all?
