The drama continues for Melanie “Mel B” Brown. The former Spice Girl, 42, “is in danger of being sent to jail for alleged witness tampering” after reportedly threatening rapper Siya, who was expected to testify for Mel’s ex Stephen Belafonte in an upcoming restraining order hearing, an insider tells In Touch exclusively.

On Sept. 11, Siya — a close friend of both Mel and Stephen — filed a police report claiming that Mel sent threatening texts warning her not to testify against Mel in court. Siya, 30, also claims the singer asked her to state that she saw Stephen, 41, beat Mel. “This is being taken very seriously by the LAPD,” says the insider, adding that Mel is currently under investigation, though no charges have been brought. Siya “is on Stephen’s witness list and is expected to dispute a majority of Mel’s claims about alleged abuse,” says the insider. But, the insider adds, Mel insists she never threatened Siya, asked her to lie or did anything criminal.

Siya attends a block party celebrating HBO’s new season of Insecure on July 15, 2017 in Inglewood, California.

The news comes just weeks after Stephen accused her of doing cocaine in new court docs. “Drinking and drug abuse had been a major issue throughout our marriage and was witnessed by the children,” the director and producer alleged in court docs obtained by In Touch. He is also seeking visitation rights for Mel and Eddie Murphy’s 10-year-old daughter, Angel. “The biggest reason for my concern with respect to the safety of the children was due to [Mel’s] habitual and consistent addiction to and abuse of cocaine and alcohol,” the court docs read.
