Former ‘Today’ Show Co-Anchors Matt Lauer and Ann Curry’s Feud Is “Nastier Than Ever” (EXCLUSIVE)

More than five months after disgraced journalist Matt Lauer was fired from the Today Show following sexual misconduct allegations against him, and people are still talking about it — including his former co-anchor, Ann Curry. According to a new report from the Washington Post, the 61-year-old warned NBC about Matt’s behavior years ago. “A woman approached me and asked me tearfully if I could help her,” Ann told the publication. “She was afraid of losing her job… I believed her.”

Since coming out with the bombshell report, Matt released a statement following his months long silence in the public eye. “I fully acknowledge that I acted inappropriately as a husband, father, and principal at NBC,” Matt said. “However I want to make it perfectly clear that any allegations or reports of coercive, aggressive, or abusive actions on my part, at any time, are absolutely false.”

Now, sources are exclusively telling In Touch that “it all makes sense. [Matt] must have been informed that Ann went to upper management about him, and that’s why he had such a vendetta against her and waged a campaign to get her fired.”

The source continued, “Matt thought the scandal was quieting down somewhat but Ann upended him once more… Matt is livid that Ann spoke out.” But, an insider close to Matt told In Touch that the father-of-three was “delusional” if he really thought Ann would keep her mouth shut forever.

“He should’ve known this day eventually would come,” the source explained. His friends even warned him to stay quiet after Ann came clean. “Matt’s friends told him not to say anything, but he felt he had to. His judgment is way off.”

As for Ann, sources said that she believes “the matter was swept under the rug” — and that’s not a good look for NBC. But, despite the company’s future reputation, the only thing Ann didn’t care about was protecting Matt. “She’s not vengeful, but she’s taking some glee in his getting his comeuppance,” says the insider. “Ann feels Matt left a black mark on her otherwise stellar career and is happy to see justice served.”
