Lawson Bates: Family 'Liking' Jana Duggar Comment 'Accidental'

Classic parent move! Fans went wild when Lawson Bates’ family “liked” an Instagram comment which hinted that he may be courting Jana Duggar. However, the Bringing Up Bates star tells In Touch exclusively that his mother hitting the heart button was “purely accidental.” Sorry folks!

“My mom was scrolling through late last night and didn’t realize what she was liking,” the 26-year-old tells In Touch exclusively, joking how he needs to give her a few lessons about the world of social media before going forward. “Meanwhile, Instagram 101 for my mom is now in session.” In case you missed it, Lawson shared a photo of himself holding a rose, captioned, “1/24/19.”

One fan wrote, “Please tell me that rose is for Jana” and the Bates family official Instagram page liked the comment. The speculation that the two reality stars are dating has been going on for years, so it didn’t take long for followers to assume a blossoming romance had started. On top of that, rumors were fueled because Jana, 29, finally joined Instagram. When her account was confirmed, fans suspected that it might have meant a big announcement was coming up.

In the past, it was speculated that Duggar kids “get on social media” to announce their courtships. However, Jessa Duggar did clear the air recently, explaining how it’s more of a coincidence than a rule and “definitely not a prerequisite.” The reality star also set the record straight about Jana’s dating life while sharing a photo of Jana and Jinger Duggar’s daughter, Felicity.
