La La Anthony Admits ‘Marriage Is Hard’ and That She and Carmelo Take It ‘One Day at a Time’
They’re making it work. La La Anthony admitted that “marriage is hard” when she spoke with Us Weekly on May 2. She noted, “I tell everybody that, and it’s one day at a time, and that’s what we’re doing. Just trying to take it one day at a time.”
She was speaking of her union with basketball star Carmelo Anthony, which has struggled in recent years. The couple has been married since July 2010 but split in April 2017. However, they were seen together on multiple occasions in the fall of 2018, and sources told the outlet they were giving their relationship another chance.
“La La and Carmelo have recently reconciled and they truly still love one another,” a source close to La La, 39, said at the time. “It’s so obvious when they’re together.” The insider also added that the duo’s 12-year-old son, Kiyan, was a big factor in their decision to give things another shot. “They also both want what’s best for their son and are committed to being a family,” the source revealed.
In 2017, reports surfaced claiming that the couple was headed for a divorce after seven years of marriage after Carmelo, 34, allegedly cheated on his wife and got a stripper pregnant. But when La La spoke with Wendy Williams on The Wendy Williams Show in June 2018, and Wendy asked her if she was seeking a divorce, La La said “not right now.”
The VH1 reality television reunion show host continued, “You know, marriages are tough. It’s filled with ups and downs and we’re just going through a time right now. But him and I are the best of friends and our number one commitment is to our son Kiyan — we have to set an example to Kiyan — and that’s what’s most important to me.” Like she said — one day at a time.
