Kylie Jenner Responds to Backlash Over Money-Themed Makeup Collection: ‘How About You Donate?’
After Kylie Jenner revealed her new birthday makeup collection — the theme is money — on Thursday, August 1, some people were not happy with the KUWTK star for flaunting her wealth all over social media.
“Can you guess the theme of my brand-new birthday collection coming August 10th?” the 21-year-old self-made billionaire captioned a photo of herself wearing a dress with dollar bills on it. “Stay tuned on my Insta Stories for the REVEAL. @kyliecosmetics.”
But some people took to the internet to vent about Kylie’s upper-class privilege. One person wrote, “Does Kylie Jenner think it’s cute making her collection money-themed? Flaunting her billionaire status. Bitch, redistribute your wealth before we rob you,” while another echoed, “Kylie Jenner releasing a money-themed makeup collection in honor of her birthday is so … tone deaf.” A third chimed in, writing, “Looks like @kyliejenner is ready to make everyone feel poor and show off what it’s like being born into money again.”
One user even pointed out that Kylie should give away some of her earnings since she has plenty to spare. “How about you donate some of that money to charity? Making other people happy is the greatest gift,” they wrote. The brunette beauty replied, “Hehe stay tuned,” along with several heart-face and smiling emojis.
Later that night, the E! personality revealed that she will be putting the money to good use. “This is one of my favorite collections, it was so much fun to create,” she said on her Instagram Stories. “The money collection is much bigger than what it seems. We, I, actually, I do mean we because we are doing this together. You guys are going to help me give back in a huge, huge way. All I wanted for my birthday was to do this money collection and give it all away. Stay tuned for more details. I have a special person helping me with this. It’s going to be amazing. We are going to do amazing things. Save the date — August 10 — my actual birthday, we are launching the collection.”
We can’t wait to see what Kylie is cooking up this time. Hopefully, she can make almost everyone happy.
