Kaitlynn Carter Says She Was Hesitant to Join ‘The Hills: New Beginnings’: ‘It’s Not Really My Comfort Zone’
Was Kaitlynn Carter hinting at the demise of her relationship with ex Brody Jenner? It sure seems like it! The blonde beauty chatted with her costar and friend Whitney Port about why she was hesitant to join The Hills: New Beginnings.
“We took so long to decide whether to do the show or not,” the 30-year-old told Whitney, 34, during the “With Whit” podcast produced by Dear Media on Thursday, August 15. “Spencer [Pratt] approached us about it two years ago, and it was an automatic no. Then over time … Because it wasn’t really real, we’re like, ‘that’s not gonna happen.’ So, boy, I was wrong.”
So, how did the blonde beauty agree to join the reboot? “The reason I decided [to do it] was because you [Whitney] messaged and said, ‘I’m doing it, so I need you to do it,’” she admitted. “Whitney convinced me to do it. It seemed like kind of a crazy idea for Brody to be back on TV and for me to be on in the first place because it’s not my comfort zone. The idea was for us to spend more time together. This was, like, a project we would do together.” Welp, that’s awkward.
The blogger and Brody, 35, recently called it quits after five years together. “They love and respect one another and know that this is the best decision for their relationship moving forward,” Brody’s rep Scott Newman told In Touch in a statement on August 2.
But it’s no surprise that the DJ and Kaitlynn couldn’t make things work since it seemed like they were never on the same page throughout the current season of the MTV show. Kaitlynn expressed interest in having babies with her man, but Brody insisted he wasn’t ready for the next step quite yet. “While I don’t have kids, I’m gonna pretty much do what I wanna do and live for myself, as opposed to live for another human being,” he said during the premiere episode. “I think that’s why she wants kids — she wants to change in that way.”
Since then, the New Hampshire native has been spotted canoodling and kissing pop star Miley Cyrus during their Italian vacation. Miley’s rep confirmed that she was no longer with her husband, Liam Hemsworth, days after pictures of Kaitlynn and Miley surfaced.
“Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,” her rep told People on August 10. “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”
Meanwhile, one fan commented on Instagram that they are a fan of Kaitlynn’s new relationship with Miley. “Just wanted to let you know that you don’t deserve all this hate from people who claim to Miley’s ‘fans’!” a fan account for the singer wrote on August 14. “You and Miley have every right to do whatever you want! If you make Miley happy, then I like you! Miley’s happiness and mental health is all that matters to me!” Of course, Kaitlynn couldn’t help but “like” the sweet message on social media.
So, does this mean Miley will be making an appearance on The Hills? We can dream, right?
