After news broke that Miley Cyrus and her estranged husband, Liam Hemsworth, called it quits, the pop star was spotted making out with Brody Jenner’s ex Kaitlynn Carter during their Italian getaway. Well, it turns out that the two beauties bonded over their mutual heartbreak. “Her and Miley became close within the past few weeks because they connected over their breakups and leaned on each other,” a source told Us Weekly.
The 26-year-old singer and the 30-year-old reality star — who were also joined by Miley’s older sister Brandi Cyrus — packed on the PDA while they snuggled in the sun on Friday, August 9 in Lake Como, Italy. The duo also posted several photos of themselves relaxing on a boat together.
Multiple sources revealed to In Touch that Miley and Kaitlynn actually met through their estranged husbands who often surf and hang out together. “Miley will go to Kaitlynn’s house late night — dropped off in an SUV — and spend hours there. They’ve been friends for a while,” an insider exclusively dished. “This also isn’t their first trip together. They were in England last month together but didn’t post pics together, just separates of them each at Stonehenge.”
The “Malibu” crooner seemingly alluded to her ex in an Instagram post one day after it was revealed that she was back on the market. “Don’t fight evolution because you will never win,” she captioned a photo of herself on top of a mountain in the Dolomites of Italy. “Like the mountain I am standing on top of, which was once underwater, connected with Africa, change is inevitable. The Dolomites were not created overnight, it was over millions of years that this magnificent beauty was formed.”
“My dad always told me, ‘Nature never hurries, but it is always on time’ … it fills my heart with peace and hope KNOWING that is true,” she added. “I was taught to respect the plane and its process, and I am committed to doing the same with my own … 💙.”
Meanwhile, the Australian hunk, 29, spoke out about how he was feeling post-split on social media a few days later. “Hi, all,” he wrote on August 12. “Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated, and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward. This is a private matter, and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets. Any reported quotes attributed to me are false. Peace and love.”
Brody, 35, also hinted at his heartache on social media on August 11. “Don’t let yesterday take up too much of today,” he wrote. Afterward, Brody’s costar and friend Brandon Thomas Lee made a joke about the whole messy situation on Instagram. “Let’s round this scandal out and post a picture of us making out,” the 23-year-old wrote in the comments section.
But the DJ seemed to laugh off the drama. “@brandonthomaslee, watch out!” he quipped. “Pics of Liam and I holding hands on the beach coming soon.”
Miley actually replied to their comments, writing, “@brodyjenner go take a nap in your truck and cool off. #HotGirlSummer.” Brody originally commented with the same phrase on a snap of Kaitlynn and Miley’s vacation pictures.
Well, hopefully, Liam and Brody can talk about their exes together when they hang out next.
