In Touch exclusively revealed back in November that Joe Simpson, father of Jessica Simpson and Ashlee Simpson, was diagnosed with cancer — but that didn’t stop him from enjoying Christmas time with his family.

The photographer shared a photo with his fashion-designer daughter from the happy day on Instagram — and he definitely looked like he was in good spirits.

“Got all dressed up for Christmas!” he captioned the above image.

Joe, who also worked as a producer, is battling prostate cancer that spread to his lymph nodes.

“The grim news devastated the entire Simpson family at first. Jessica and sister Ashlee especially took it hard. They cried for days about his dire future, and the very real possibility of him dying. But, after initial shock wore off, they rallied behind him,” said an insider, who added that “Joe has remained incredibly optimistic about his battle. [His family hopes] for a miraculous recovery for Papa Joe, and they are praying with all their hearts.”

He seemingly broke his silence on the matter with an Instagram photo that has since been deleted, before he opened up to In Touch about his unfortunate diagnosis.

“At this point, I am spending time with my family. They are my biggest support. The cancer continues to be monitored, and I am doing everything the doctors are telling me to do. I’m looking for a miracle,” he said. “Right now the outlook is great, but no matter what, I have to monitor this for the rest of my life. Once you have cancer, you have it — but I will get through this.”

Joe also confirmed that he had his prostate removed because “as everyone knows, all it takes is one cell to multiply.”

At this time, Jessica and Ashlee have yet to speak out publicly regarding their father’s cancer battle.
