Jill Duggar ‘Serenades’ Husband Derick Dillard as He Studies for Law School
You know when you’re looking for a good Spotify playlist to help you focus and you just can’t find the one? Well, Derick Dillard doesn’t have that problem, because when he needs some soothing tunes, he just has Jill Duggar play her harp for him. On Monday, October 21, the former Counting On star revealed on Instagram that his wife was serenading him while he got a little work done. Though the couple’s kids are still totally underfoot as usual, the music is almost relaxing enough for the parents to pretend it isn’t happening.
“Fun family time during law school fall break = I get to be serenaded with beautiful harp music from Jill while I study! 😃 🎼 🎶” Derick, 30, captioned his video of Jill, 28, strumming the instrument. Apparently, the Duggar daughter playing for her man is one of the couple’s favorite pastimes. While chatting with fans in the comments of his post, the would-be lawyer revealed his wife used to “record her harp playing and send it to me while I was overseas. :)” It sounds like a tradition that goes all the way back to their courting days!
Fans were pretty impressed by Jill’s skills, lavishing her with compliments in the comments. “Really soothing and beautiful,” wrote one. “That’s too relaxing… I’d fall asleep instead of studying, 🙂” noted another. A third told Derick, “Wow! You totally married up. That’s so cool,” in what we’re pretty sure was a subtle dig. The dad didn’t seem to notice, though, simply writing back, “I agree, I absolutely did! :D”
Harp music aside, some of the star’s followers also took the opportunity to check in on how the family is doing in the wake of the tornadoes that have hit the area. “Always praying for you guys. Hoping you weren’t affected [in] any way by the storms,” an Instagram user shared. The law student assured his fans that their family was “safe” and thanked them for asking, but added, “Others weren’t so fortunate, though. Please be in prayer with us for those who are recovering.”
The major storm in Derick’s life right now seems to be his less-than-sunny relationship with his father-in-law, Jim Bob Duggar. There have been rumors about a feud between the two men ever since Jill and her hubby left the TLC show, and he’s recently been fanning the flames on Twitter. When a fan asked why Jim Bob “gets all the money for the show and doesn’t give any” to his kids, Derick shot back, “I don’t know. You would have to ask him that.” No subtlety on that one, folks.
