She’s so done! Jennifer Garner has given up on trying to help her ex-husband Ben Affleck now that he’s moved on with a new woman, Lindsay Shookus — especially when it comes to his problematic history with alcohol. A source tells In Touch, “[Jen] feels like Ben’s drinking is Lindsay’s problem now.” The sources continues, “Of course, Jen worries about Ben’s health because is the father of her children [Violet, 11, Seraphina, 8, and Samuel, 5], but she feels like she’s done everything she can to help him over the years. It’s Lindsay’s turn.”

For years, Ben has struggled with drinking, and it’s been reported that his unwillingness to commit to sobriety was part of the reason things didn’t work out between the former husband and wife. He first went public with his struggle with alcohol in 2001, when he checked into rehab for 30 days. Talking about his stint more than a decade later, he explained, “I went to rehab for being 29 and partying too much and not having a lot of boundaries and to clear my head and try to get some idea of who I wanted to be. It was more of a ‘let me get myself straight,’ before it became a rite of passage.”

Despite his well-documented struggle, Lindsay continues to drink with her new man — which is all the more reason Jen thinks she should be the one to deal with the repercussions. “Jen is very surprised that Lindsay is drinking around Ben,” the source continues. “But she feels that ultimately it’s up to [Lindsay] how she wants to handle the situation.”

According to the source, Jen has been “very quietly” seeing someone — and seeing Jen with someone else has escalated Ben’s problem, even though he, too, has moved on. The source explains, “The relationship has completely made Ben unravel. He realizes he is never going to get Jen back.”
