Ready for a new chapter of life? Nicki Minaj shared some surprising news with fans on Thursday, September 5, claiming that she’s “retiring” from music to start a family with fiancé Kenneth Petty. The “Megatron” rapper took to Twitter for the big reveal, however some fans are wondering if she’s just trolling people with her announcement.

“I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, ❌ in the box — cuz ain’t nobody checkin me. ✅ Love you for LIFE,” Nicki, 36, wrote to her followers. Of course, several of her loyal Barbz shared their thoughts in the comments, posting crying memes and more shocked responses.

“About to look up the word ‘retire’ hopefully it means dropping an album tomorrow, wish me luck,” one wrote. “This is my cue to leave earth,” another replied, while a third chimed in, “Nicki stop this ain’t funny I’m not prepared for this rn.”

Nicki is clearly looking forward to tying the knot with her beau! The rapper recently changed her name from Ms. Minaj to Mrs. Petty on Twitter, shortly after stopping by the Beverly Hills courthouse to get a marriage license. Luckily, it looks like we’ll still get some more fiery jams from the chart-topping artist in the future, based on her latest interview.

“I have to work on my album and I have a lot to focus on that I don’t want to do the big wedding now. We’ll do the big wedding later,” Nicki said about her upcoming nuptials on her Queen Radio show back in August.

“I’ll be married before my album comes out, but will have my wedding after the album comes out. Before the 90 days is over, yes, I will be married.”
