UPDATE: Derick responded to our story on Twitter, writing, “No, I criticized the media’s use of kids again…like @TLC uses Jazz. My heart goes out to the victims, but all ideas should be heard, and subjected to criticism.”

This guy just can’t stop, won’t stop, saying horrible things. Derick Dillard really pushed the envelope on Feb. 28 when he slammed the teenage victims of the Parkland school shooting for speaking out about gun control.

Jill Duggar‘s husband took to Twitter with his two cents about an article revealing the kids called politicians’ responses to the massacre “pathetic.” “This has gotten a little ridiculous; at least two networks are now using kids to push their liberal agendas,” said Derick. “Liberal Media… at least be consistent so you can hide your biased tactics better.” He also brought attention to a student named Kyle Kashuv who has been calling for a bipartisan effort to end school shootings, so clearly Derick missed his message.

While these kids have been bravely marching and speaking in front of Congress and doing everything they can to create a safer environment in schools, Derick is totally discrediting their efforts by making it sound like it’s just something created by the media. To take anything away from these courageous kids is horrible, and fans were outraged.

“These kids have gone through more than most of us and if you have watched any of the coverage you would know how smart and articulate they are,” wrote a passionate supporter of the teens. “They are better than a lot of people in the world. Back off Derick.” Another agreed, writing, “Derick, I feel sorry for you that your worldview is so warped you can’t see the reality right in front of you. These kids are bravely standing up for each other and for other children. You’re being condescending to them when you say they’re being ‘used.'”

Another couldn’t bear the irony of the former reality star complaining about using kids. “Wait, your family in law uses kids to push their agendas all the time… Ummm you guys are worse than the media.” Fans also called him an “a–hole,” a “moron,” a “pitiful excuse for a Christian” for his comments. Honestly, we’re not even surprised that Derick would attack kids. He did get fired from Counting On for going after transgender teen Jazz Jennings, after all. It’s just another day, another controversy with this guy.
