Things between Jon Gosselin and his teenage son Collin Gosselin were “going pretty well” prior to their alleged altercation, a source exclusively tells In Touch.

“He was happy with Jon’s girlfriend Colleen and seemed well-adjusted to living life with his dad, sister Hannah and Colleen’s kids,” the source explains, referring to the former Jon and Kate Plus 8 star’s girlfriend Colleen Conrad.

Earlier this month, Collin, 16, made headlines for accusing his 43-year-old dad of abuse in a since-deleted Instagram post.

“My dad is a liar,” he allegedly wrote on the social media platform. “Yesterday he beat me up and thought nothing of it, he punched me in the face and gave me a swollen nose and I started bleeding. He then continued to kick me in the ribs after I was on the floor.”

The post prompted an investigation by the Berks County Children & Youth Services. Jon, who shares Collin with ex-wife Kate Gosselin, has denied all the accusations against him.

“Jon has never abused Collin,” a rep for the DJ told In Touch on Friday, September 11. “No charges have been filed against him and there’s no ongoing Children & Youth Services investigation. Collin has endured severe trauma. Jon is a loving father who has worked hard to ensure that his son gets the support and help he needs.”

Collin, who is one of Jon and Kate’s sextuplets, moved in with his father in December 2018 after he spent several years at a special needs institution. Kate, 45, has publicly slammed Jon amid the recent allegations.

“Enough is enough,” she told People, revealing she didn’t want her kids around Jon anymore. “I don’t want to hear any excuses from anyone, not from his father, not from local law enforcement, not from court personnel whose job is supposedly to ensure the best interests of my children.”

Jon’s mother, Pamela Gosselin, meanwhile, has defended the dad of eight amid the drama.

“I don’t blame Collin for getting out of control when he gets upset,” Pamela told The Sun earlier this month. “He is an incredibly smart teen that has to learn to live in our society after what he has been through, but it’s a process. It is fixable but it will take time. He has been through pain and we as a family have given him nonstop unconditional love.”

Jon and Kate split in 2009 after a decade of marriage. They are parents of 19-year-old twins Mady and Cara and 16-year-old sextuplets Joel, Collin, Aaden, Hannah, Leah and Alexis.
