They’re starting over — but it’s not going to be easy. VH1’s newest docuseries Cartel Crew will follow the lives of adults who were raised in the drug cartel as they attempt to leave the lifestyle behind. Now, in a new super trailer for the upcoming season, many of them come face to face with their family’s involvement in the drug cartel and they will realize that it will be difficult to move past their roots while maintaining the cartel code — and the tension will reach a boiling point among the cast members. The cast includes Michael Corleone Blanco, the youngest son of the notorious Colombian drug kingpin Griselda Blanco, aka the “Cocaine Godmother.” Michael stars on the show alongside his longtime girlfriend, Marie, who is also affiliated with the cartel life through her father who was also part of the lifestyle. Marie’s friend Katherine “Tatu Baby” Flores also grew up in the cartel lifestyle because her late father was a drug kingpin in Queens, NY. He died when Katherine was 4 years old.
Katherine’s close friend Stephanie Acevedo also grew up in the lifestyle because her father was one of the biggest drug smugglers in Miami. Katherine’s other friend, Dayana Castellanos, is affiliated with the drug business because of her ex-husband and she even served time in prison because of her involvement.
Meanwhile, Loz works for Katherine at her tattoo shop in Miami but he prefers not to reveal how he is affiliated with the cartel life. And twins Michael and Nicole Zavala only heard rumors about their families’ involvement with the cartel lifestyle, and they will eventually have to prove their affiliation to their co-stars. Throughout the season, viewers will watch as the adult children of the cartel life work hard to distance themselves from their past — and tensions will rise, culminating with a cast trip to Medellín, Colombia where it all started.
Be sure to catch the season premiere of Cartel Crew, airing on Monday, Jan. 7, at 9 p.m. on VH1.
