Brigitte Nielsen, 54, Gives Birth to Baby No. 5 With Husband Mattia Dessi
Congratulations are in order for Brigitte Nielsen! The Danish model gave birth to her first child — a baby girl named Frida — with her husband Mattia Dessi on Friday, June 22. Even though this is her first child with Mattia, this is baby No. 5 for Brigitte because she is already a mom to four boys.
"We are overjoyed to welcome our beautiful daughter into our lives. It’s been a long road, and so worth it. We’ve never been more in love," the proud parents told People. Little Frida weighed 5 pounds, 9 ounces at the time of her birth.
Brigitte gave birth just one month after she first announced the exciting news that she was expecting on Instagram. "Family getting larger," the 54-year-old captioned a photo cradling her growing baby bump in a skin-tight white dress. Alongside another photo she wrote, "Happy time positive vibes." As expected, fans showered the six-foot beauty with well-wishes. "Congratulations! Very inspiring and gives hope to others," one follower commented. Another added, "Extremely beautiful and inspiring… congrats."
Brigitte has yet to respond to questions about whether her pregnancy was the result of in vitro fertilization treatments, but she did mention that she wouldn't be against trying IVF in a 2008 interview with Hello! magazine. "The children have kept me going," she said at the time. "After I do Playboy, we want to try IVF. It's asking a lot, but if it's possible, it would make our package complete."
Brigitte is a mom to sons Julian, 34, — from her first marriage to Kasper Winding — Killian, 28 — from her relationship with former NFL star Marcus Gastineau — and Douglas, 25, and Raoul, 23, — from her fourth marriage to Raoul Meyer. She was famously married to Sylvester Stallone in the early '80s before moving on to hubby No. 3 Sebastian Copeland. She also dated rapper Flavor Flav, whom she met on Season 3 of The Surreal Life.
Brigitte has been married to Mattia, 39, since 2006. The couple seemingly tied the knot a year before in the Dominican Republic, but the nuptials were not legal since she was not officially divorced from her fourth husband Raoul at the time. "[It] was more like an official engagement,” her manager, Luigi Balduini, told People. "They put it on the news that it was a marriage, but it was an engagement, because she was still legally married."
Brigitte and Mattia met while she was filming Strange Love with Flavor Flav, but at the time their relationship was described as "more of a strong friendship — but it’s very heavy." Congrats again to the happy couple!
