DJ Tim Bergling, better known as Avicii, was recently honored for his work with a wax figure at Madame Tussauds New York after his tragic death back in April 2018. According to Tom Middleton, General Manager of the New York landmark, the DJ’s family worked very closely with artists to ensure the figure was perfect.

“We had the opportunity to work very closely with his family in order to bring this celebration of his life to Madame Tussauds,” Tom told In Touch exclusively. He noted that it was crucial to him to have the family’s approval and input. The DJ’s parents corresponded with the museum the most and helped provide feedback for the concept of the set design.

“For us, it was so important that they were on board right from the start. At first, it was probably a little bit of conversation back and forth about how he was going to be presented, how we were going to pay tribute to him at the museum but once we did that, they were really on board right from the beginning and they gave us feedback about the figure — how it looked — every step of the way.”

Avicii’s family has yet to see his figure in the flesh, but when they do, Tom is sure it will be a very special moment. “They were so important to this process that we would love them to be able to see it and they love the images that they’ve seen so far,” he said.

The museum envisioned an interactive display to highlight the legacy of the world-renowned DJ. “We would like guests to be able to come to Madame Tussauds and relive some of his most iconic shows. We’re also going to allow the guests to help out a little bit and select the song and the soundtrack that they want to hear when they’re in this space, and yeah we really hope that this is a true recognition of how great an artist and producer that he was and we hope that everybody who comes here feels the same way and they realize that.”

Avicii sadly died at the age of 28 due to suicide. He is survived by his family and deeply missed by his fans.
