The only thing that can rival a royal wedding? A royal christening! Baby Archie‘s baptism is right around the corner, but a source tells In Touch exclusively that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are butting heads over who his godparents should be.

“Meghan and Harry are squabbling over who should be godparents,” the insider dished. “Harry wants to ask old friends who he’s known since he was little, whereas Meghan wants her A-list pals to be Archie’s guardians.”

Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like Meg’s BFFs George and Amal Clooney got the gig. “She was desperate for George and Amal to be godparents, but it’s not happening, and it’s nothing to do with them not fitting the bill — they’re rich, famous and have plenty of experience with kids. Even though Harry adores the couple, he’s arguing that they’ve only known them for a few years and they aren’t even in the country half the time,” the source continued. “He’s won that battle. George and Amal won’t be godparents.”

The newest member of the royal family, whose full name is Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, will reportedly be baptized in early July at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor — which, if you’ll recall, is where his parents got married last year and also where Harry was christened in 1984.

Archie is expected to follow royal tradition by wearing a replica of the lace christening gown commissioned by Queen Victoria for the baptism of her first child, Princess Victoria, in 1841. Both Harry and William have worn the gown, along with 60 other royal babies.

Rumors are swirling, however, that a very important someone — cough, cough Queen Elizabeth — will not be in attendance. According to the Daily Mail, the 93-year-old “will be absent on other duties,” so Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla will be leading the royal affair. But fear not! It’s not a snub to Meghan and Harry. In fact, the Queen doesn’t go to all of her great-grandchildren’s christenings. While she was in attendance for Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s ceremonies, she did not go to Prince Louis’ last year.

Only time will tell who will be given the coveted title of godparents!
