"Kind, down-to-earth and wonderful" are not words usually associated with supermodel Naomi Campbell…but according to Nigel Barker that is exactly what she is.
The fashion photographer tells InTouch that reports she is difficult to work with are totally false and it was, in fact, part of the reason he joined reality series The Face.
“She is very, very kind and very loyal,” he gushes. “She will take the cast and crew out to dinner, for a manicure, all sorts of things. She is very grounded and down-to-earth and very honest.”
In fact, Nigel admits honesty may be her biggest problem.
“Maybe she’s too honest and that’s why she gets a bad rep, but she’s a wonderful person.
“She is at the top of her game,” he adds. “It’s complicated for her and she has to make tough decisions as does anyone in a managerial or executive role. But anyone who says she is difficult to work with—it’s just not true.”
Nigel became a household name as a judge on America's Next Top Model. After he parted ways with Tyra Banks and the hit reality show after 18 seasons, he said he was ready to try something new.
“The opportunity to do The Face came around so quickly after America’s Next Top Model ended and there wasn’t a doubt in my mind about doing it as soon as I looked at who was involved.
"Naomi as executive producer? Of course I wanted to be a part of it. She had never been on TV in this way before and I knew people were going to watch it, whether they were interested in fashion or not,” Nigel dishes to In Touch.

The father-of-two added that, when it comes to the show, Naomi demonstrates the dedication he’s come to know after more than 20 years of working with the supermodel, who has “always worked tirelessly and effectively with all her heart and dedication."
The Face—which kicks off its second season tonight, March 5, on Oxygen—is hosted by the fashion photog and features Naomi, Anne V. and Lydia Hearst as they compete to find an aspiring model who will be featured as “the face” of a brand.
