Jason Aldean and his wife, Jessica Ussery, are throwing in the towel.
According to court documents, Jason is filing for divorce just 7 months after he was caught cheating on his wife with former American Idol contestant, Brittany Kerr, back in September 2012.
Late last week, after reports surfaced that the couple was separating, the country star’s rep released the following statement. “Jason and his wife are having problems. But there is nothing more to share with the press at this time. It’s a private family matter, and we hope everyone will respect that he would like to keep it that way.”
Once the scandal went public following the release of a video and photographs of the country crooner kissing the young woman, the 36-year-old star took to Twitter to issue a lengthy public apology.

“Hey Guys – I wanted to talk to you directly, so you were hearing the truth from me and not just reading allegations about my personal life on gossip web sites," he wrote. "The truth is that I screwed up. I had too much to drink, let the party get out of hand and acted inappropriately at a bar. I left alone, caught the bus to our next show and that's the end of the story. I ultimately ended up embarrassing my family and myself."
He continued: "I'm not perfect, and I'm sorry for disappointing you guys. I really appreciate being able to work through this privately with my family and for all your continued support."
Although admitting, "It hasn't always been roses," the "My Kinda Party" singer seemed optimistic about his relationship with his wife of 11 years in November 2012.
"I think we're fine. I think anytime you go through anything like that—I mean, it's tough," the country crooner told CBS This Morning. "We've been together for a long time and through a lot of things together. Those are things that most people get to deal with in private, but we didn't have the luxury of doing that."
Jason and Jessica were high school sweethearts and have been married since August 2001. They have two daughters together, Keeley, 10 and Kendyl, 5.
